O-Room cafe + event space opens in 2022

Thanks to generous funding from the A.P. Møller Foundation and the Augustinus Foundation, O—Overgaden is now able to realize O Room, a new gathering space with an extended program of events and exhibition formats, alongside which we will continue the publication series accompanying our solo exhibitions.

The A.P. Møller Foundation has been supporting the ongoing process of establishing a common forum in the new multifunctional cafe space called O Room, a new gathering space for the art scene and the local area who we are looking forward to welcoming for visits, conversations, and activities. Simultaneously we’re inviting you to, which is situated in the iconic column room on the building’s ground floor with a beautiful view over Christianshavn’s canal. The inauguration of a flexible café space allows O—Overgaden to take an even more proactive approach to supporting the art scene as well as the local community: O Room will be available for use in their creative practices as well as their everyday lives, as a meeting point and a working and event space. This funding also makes it possible for O—Overgaden to offer an extended program of new presentation formats, dialogues, and experiences centered around new voices in the art scene.

The O Room interior design will be developed in close collaboration with designer Filip Berg and is expected to be completed by the summer of 2022.

We have also received funding from the Augustinus Foundation for the continued production of our publication series which extends, contextualizes, and broadens the conversation around each of our solo exhibitions. The publications can be acquired in print at O—Overgaden for 50 DKK – and accessible to download for free here on O—Overgaden’s new online platform.
