O—Overgaden is looking for an Installation Manager and Technical Coordinator with solid experience in exhibition installation and AV. You will be responsible for identifying the best solutions for installing and building all of the art institution’s exhibitions, working closely with O—Overgaden’s Director/Chief Curator, the curator, and artists.

The role involves developing technical solutions, obtaining quotes, and coordinating external craftspeople and technicians. You will also make sure the right materials and technical staff are available. You’ll be comfortable with a fast pace and an active and varied workday that spans many different tasks.

You will play a leading role in the exhibition team responsible for realizing all exhibitions and events at O—Overgaden. Alongside experience with project management and exhibition installation, you should have experience managing budgets and meeting deadlines. You will also occasionally help with running events and support the rental of the institution’s spaces, in collaboration with O—Overgaden’s rental manager.

You will also be responsible for day-to-day building operations. This includes monitoring alarms and handling interior maintenance. It also covers maintaining and updating the building’s server, email, and web solutions to ensure data security. You will coordinate cleaning of the building and purchase the necessary tools and materials.

As O—Overgaden’s Installation Manager and Technical Coordinator, you will work closely with the O—Overgaden team: the Director/Chief Curator, an Arts Administrator, a Curator, and a Communications Manager, as well as a number of hourly-paid staff and an external accountant.

O—Overgaden is an art institution in the heart of Copenhagen overlooking the Christianshavn canal. Each year it presents around six major solo exhibitions along with one larger international group exhibition. Most of the exhibition program comes through the institution’s traditional Open Call format, which often paves the way for young or yet unknown artists into the professional art world.

For 40 years, as one of the few established art institutions in Denmark focused on young artists, O—Overgaden has been dedicated to providing artists from all regions the possibility to experiment, develop, and unfold their ideas and practice on a grand scale, in a fully realized institutional solo exhibition.

• Experience with installing and deinstalling art exhibitions

• Experience with construction management, project planning and budget management

• Experience with AV and technical delivery of events

• Experience with 3D software such as SketchUp or similar

• Experience with building maintenance and operations

• Strong collaborative skills

• Good communication skills in both Danish and English

You are independent, flexible, curious, outgoing, service-minded, and you work well with others. You take ownership of your own tasks and of the team’s work. You thrive in a workday where things don’t always go to plan, since art productions are always evolving along the way. You enjoy solving tasks in an informal and good-natured working environment. You may come from a similar role at a museum or art center, or have experience as a producer or hands-on project experience from another cultural institution.

The position is advertised as an 80% position (an average of 30 hours per week), but may potentially be expanded or reduced for the right candidate. You should be prepared for flexible working hours, as the art institution’s exhibition installations and public events often require work outside normal working hours.
