OVERGADEN has for more than three decades been among the leading non-profit art institutions in Denmark with an irreverent program displaying both emerging local and international voices of contemporary art.
OVERGADEN’s program comprehends around 8-10 grand-scale exhibitions a year as well as a breadth of artist talks, performances, film screenings, seminars, and discussions.
Established in 1986 and situated by a canal in one of central Copenhagen’s historic neighborhoods, OVERGADEN occupies two large floors of a 19th century building which used to house a printing workshop.
OVERGADEN is an independent institution with a board consisting of Mikkel Bogh (chair), director of The National Gallery of Denmark; Ruth Campau, artist; Mette Winckelmann, artist; Ebbe Stub Wittrup, artist; Matias Møl Dalsgaard, CEO, GoMore; Helle Brøns, CEO, Sorø Art Museum; and Jens Lund Mosbek, lawyer, Kromann Reumert.
